Diving at work

Diving Activities carried out as part of University business include diving for scientific or archaeological purposes and any other teaching or research activity requiring submersion underwater and the use of underwater breathing equipment.

Key points of the protocol are:

  • Contact the University Diving Officer at the earliest possible opportunity once you have identified that diving activities will be required.

  • Ensure a diving project plan is formulated and submitted for approval before any diving take place.

  • Assemble a suitably qualified team and ensure adequate infrastructure is in place to support safe diving activities

Note: This protocol does not apply to diving that is wholly recreational such as activities of the LUU Sub-Aqua Club or activities undertaken during personal time while on University business providing these are purely for leisure purposes and not associated with University operations.
