In a Service

Incidental contact with hazardous biological material in a service

If your work might expose you, or the people that you manage, to the risk of infection or disease (e.g. plumber working on a sewage pipe, groundstaff collecting discarded needles, cleaner dealing with vomit, etc.) then please read the following documents.

If you are not sure, or if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact Biological Safety at biosafety@leeds.ac.uk.

Service Definitions - Explanations of some of the key terms you'll find in these documents.

Standard - The core of the protocol, this sets out what the University expects to happen in every area-although how you achieve it is up to you.

Guidance for Heads of Service - Guidance to explain what you should have in place to ensure you achieve the Standard.
