Working in a clinical environment
University staff and postgraduate students who are undertaking a clinical role with patient contact within the NHS require health clearance to NHS standards.
The clearance is dependent on the nature of the contact with patients, but is likely to include having blood tests and/or vaccinations for measles, mumps, rubella and chicken pox.
For roles that involve “exposure prone procedures”, blood tests may also be required for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.
Following your appointment HR will refer you to either the Occupational Health Service depending on the nature of your role for appropriate tests to obtain the required clearance for work in a clinical environment.
