Respiratory Sensitizers

Health surveillance is required under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH 2002) for people potentially exposed to respiratory sensitizers (including animals) in the course of their work.

New employees and new postgraduate students who have indicated on their pre-employment or pre-acceptance questionnaire that their work/research will involve possible exposure to a respiratory sensitizer, or where existing employees/postgraduate students are moving to an area where they may be exposed, they will be contacted by Occupational Health Service and an appointment will be arranged for initial screening.

No one should work with respiratory sensitizers until they have been screened and found medically suitable.
