Health surveillance

Purpose of health surveillance

Health surveillance is a system of ongoing health checks to detect work-related ill-health in employees who are exposed to identified health risks in their work - such as noise, vibration or hazardous substances/agents.

Some health checks may be required by law, some are recommended by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and some are regarded as good occupational health practice to protect the individual.
