Guidance for staff

Sickness absence

If you are having a lot of time off work, either in a single long period (usually more than 4 weeks) or multiple short occurrences due to a health issues, you should discuss this with your line manager/HR.

The outcome may be a referral to the Occupational Health Service for an assessment and to seek guidance on adjustments or support within the workplace.  These will be tailored to your individual circumstance to help you attend work and fulfil your required duties.

Unable to complete my workplace duties due to health

If you are attending work regularly but become aware that you are having difficulty carrying out some duties, you should discuss this with your line manager/HR.

This is likely to result in a referral to the Occupational Health Service to assess capability and determine if there are adjustments and support that may help you fulfil your required duties.

Appointments will generally take place in the Occupational Health Service on 5-9 Willow Terrace Road.  If you live some distance from the University or are too ill to attend at the time, we may speak to you by telephone.
